John Pennekamp Scuba Diving

Speaking of Scuba Diving, we had to take Jari one last time before she left. So we got a group of friends together and spent cinco de mayo under the water of John Pennekamp in Key Largo. It was a two tank dive. First we explored an old shipwreck then some open reef. Here are a few picture from under the sea
We love our under water camera casing, Blake has had it for over six years now. But the last time we used it, it let in water for the first time and ruined our camera. That is why there were no pictures from our Memorial Day dive.

Scuba Diving Lauderdale-By-The-Sea

Well, we spent all day Saturday doing homework, and I mean all day! Then yesterday we spent at church. Today we had nothing to do, so we woke up early to go diving. We had to get our tanks filled and thought today being a holiday all the dive shops would be open and ready for business. We were mistaken. They did not open their doors till 10 am. That was really saddening because we could have slept in. We were going on a "beach dive", meaning we did not need a boat, meaning we only had to pay for our air. The little city of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (near Fort Lauderdale) has some wonderful beach dives. So we suited up, walked down the shore, and snorkeled to the reef about 150 yards out. It was pretty windy but the sun was out and the water was warm. After descending the waves did not bother us to much. This dive had much more life then I was expecting. If you want, here is a list of some of the things we saw: cow fish, french and queen fish, royal gramma, squirrelfish, powder brown and juvenile blue tang and a nurse shark.
It was nice getting away from the crowds on shore and disappear to the silence of the ocean. After our dive we tried out the burger joint across from the dive shop, Burgerfi. Talk about a good place to eat. Fresh burgers, fries with parmesan cheese and herbs, along with Boylan's soda. We were in heaven.

Have a Wonderful Long Weekend

My brother texted me this picture from D.C., what a wonderful time to be passing by the Nation's Capital. So many men, women and children sacrificed for the freedom we have. It is humbling to think of. Adam (the brother) is on a 7 day road trip, wish we could have tagged along. We had no school today, and Monday is off too, meaning 4 day weekend!! But we have so much homework that we will not be doing much but studying.
We are going to try and take a break to go Scuba Diving...
we will see about that.
Hope everyone else has a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

The Lion King

Now to begin the Fun, Crazy, and Random things we did before Jari left on her 18 month LDS mission.

For starters the day after we got back from our Santos Family RV trip we went to see The Lion King.
And it just so happens that we got to go with my favorite people in the whole world. Of course my family, but add Mama Russ to the mix and you have a winning group of people.
This was mine and Blake's first ever Broadway show. I believe The Lion King set us off to a good start. When the magic began and all the animals took stage, my eyes watered up a little. Now I only cry for a few things (1) when I watch Track and Field, random I know and (2) during truly beautiful and touching experiences. The Lion King was so wonderful, I am amazed at the talent others have and so glad we were able to be apart of it.

The Emerald Coast: Part III

Last but not least day three. The plan was to drive up to pensacola, but we were having so much fun in Destin we decided to stay. The last day was spent at Grayton Beach, we chose to come here because it had a lake that almost connects with the ocean. The lake was much warmer then the gulf, so it was perfect to wade in the water as the sun started to set. Game of the day was frisco ball.

The next day we slept in, and grabbed a bit to eat at the crab trap. There we eat super yummy sea food. Then started the long drive back to central Florida. A trip with the family is not complete without dancing and karaoke, so we turned the RV into a night club.
It was the perfect beach vacation for the Santos Family.

The Emerald Coast: Part II

I'm back from my 3 weeks away from home!!! It is so nice to be sleeping in my own bed again. I still have lots of photos and stories from our family RV trip so here you go.

After Panama City we drove up to Destin Florida. Destin is such a cool city, it has all the shops and eateries like Orlando but it's much newer and nicer. So for day two we drove to Santos Rosa Beach and spent the day there. After day one we all had a bit of a sunburn, so most of the day was spend under cover ups, hats and sunnies, but we still managed to have fun in the sun.
My lovely cousin Sophia.
Love playing volley with my Dad, he is straight up crazy.
Talking about my Dad being crazy, it was also his idea to steal this boat because it looked abandoned. Don't worry we did get it back to the owner.
That evening we spend at a go-cart mini/golf place. Amanda, Janae and I road the super man. I was pier pressured in to going on it ... looking back I can say it was fun, but will never be doing that again. Then most the adults got in the little kid water duck ride thing, it was a blast.

random things that make me terribly happy

Family night at the Movies: The Avengers.
Mom's home made baked beans.
Blake fishing with the nephews and the best dog ever, Mojo.
Spending the day at Disney.
A Florida map I drew to send to my cousin's kindergarten class (it was much more fun then doing homework).
Amish Friendship Bread.
Visiting Amy to find this little man dead asleep.
Being out of town and getting this photo text from the neighbors...
Blake asking for a pancake breakfast. He is not a big fan... I LOVE THEM!

The last few weeks have been crazy. Summer classes have started, I am taking online while Blake is on campus. Moved back in with my Santos family for a little, living out of a bag is not very much fun. But I get to spend every second I can with Jari, she leaves on her mission in 5 days. Blake on the other hand has to stay in Miami for his classes, super sad. But he is up here on the weekends. All of this equals very little sleep.
A lot has happened lately, just have to find time to write it all down.
