Viper Temple in Penang, Malasia

^^ pictures could not capture the experience of ordering and eating noodles on the side of the road. It was not a side walk, it was like what a bike line would be here in the States. But instead of bikers, tons of street food vendors and tables for dinning. ^^
We spent a day in Penang Malaysia, which is an island with a strong and mixed culture. Here you can find Chinese, Indian, English and of course Malaysian food, art, and buildings everywhere. We took the bus around to different places of the island just relaxing and taking in the melting pot of cultures on this small island. After almost six months of playing tourist we did not pull out our camera for every little thing.
However the viper temple was too interesting not to get some good shots. It is a Buddhist temple with venomous snakes freely hanging around everwhere. I was a little nervous walking around, not knowing where the next snake was going to be, but they seemed pretty calm.

A few lazy days in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

On our way home from Singapore we made a few stops along the say. And seeing as Singapore shares a border and having met so many Malaysians we could not leave south east Asia without visiting. One of our stops was the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. We stayed in a hostel right in a shopping district and took the metro anywhere we wanted to go. Our main two stops were to see the Batu Caves and the Petronas Towers.

Batu Caves
Batu Caves is a Hindu shrine with a series of temple caves in a huge limestone hill. It is a tourist attraction as well as a place of worship.

Petronas Towers
We could not leave without visiting the Petronas Twin Towers. These are land mark buildings like the Empire State Building, or the Buri Khalifa in Dubai. I liked how they are not crowed in with other large skyscrapers, it makes their height that much more impressive. We went to see them in the day, and decided to window shop at the nearby malls till sunset so that we could see them at night too. We were not disappointed, plus there was a light and water show in the evening as well.
Malaysia was fun and different in so many ways. Being so close to Singapore I thought it might have some of the same feel. But we definitely saw a difference between the two countries. Malaysia is a predominantly muslim cournty, and you could see the culture woven into all aspects of life. The food available, seating on the metro (they had a woman only section), and the dress all were indicators that we no longer were in Singapore.
