Road Trip: Palmyra

Well Happy Fathers Day to all you wonderful Dads out there. Blake has been bugging me all day (maybe not all day) to do stuff for him. But he is not a Father yet, so he will just have to wait. In my defense Blake said the same thing to me on Mothers Day.
After Boston we stopped driving north and headed west towards Niagara Falls. Before we crossed the USA/Canada boarded we took a day trip to Palmyra New York. This small town is loaded with history and meaning to our Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints. This is where our Prophet Joseph Smith lived. We walked the grounds referred to as the Sacred Grove, where we believe God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ visited the young Joseph. As I walked the path into this grove of trees the song "Joseph Smith's First Prayer" came to mind. It was a beautiful spring morning, with birds chirping as light gently came through the trees.

After we visited where they printed the first copies of the Book of Mormon, which we read as scripture along side the Bible. At this site there are beautiful original paintings of scripture stories by inspired man and women.

At both places we took a tour by amazing sister missionaries, it made me think of my sister Jari. One could not deny the spirit you are able to feel at these places. I love that I believe in modern and personal revelation. Daily I feel like I need help in this crazy world, it is comforting to know that through prayer, scripture or a living Prophet I can be divinely guided.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."
James 1:5-6

  2. I love Palmyra! I think my testimony really started to be my own, while sitting in the Sacred Grove as a kid.
