In 5 Year Time...

Yesterday Blake and I celebrated 5 years of marriage... WHAT? We have had a lot of fun these past 5 years and since we could not celebrate together I thought I would go through old videos and put together and short film. We always enjoy going through old pictures and video, so here are some clips we never used in our other films.

Indonesia Under The Sea: A Film

Blake put together some of the video clips of us scuba diving and snorkeling in Bali and Komodo National Park. There was so much not caught on video or in pictures but this will give you a good idea of what it was like.

Searching for Manatees in Crystal River Fl

dolphins in crystal river Fl
Before we left for Asia we only had a few Saturdays to make the most of. So the Saturday before finals week (not the most responsible thing to do) we spent on the water searching for manatees. The weather had been quit warm in Florida for December which was nice, yet not optimal for spotting manatees. We had seen them before in the canal behind our Miami apt. but that was nothing like the clear blue water in crystal river. Even with the weather against us we still spotted and swam with a few manatees. We even got an extra dolphin surprise on our way back to the boat dock.

It was a wonderful day enjoying nature, and since I had already chose to postpone the much needed studying I stayed even latter to watch Les Mis with Jari that night. I sure stress myself out for the sake of fun but looking back I don't regret it at all. A fun Saturday sure beats staying home and studying for finals.
Can you tell we were a little excited?

Our Family Road Trip (minus a couple)

Well we moved to Gainesville last month. It was the hardest move we have made yet. Not only because of leaving wonderful friends like I talked about last post. But because we had to move all our stuff up 3 flights of stairs. There is a few things I learned about this move. One was not to pack in only LARG boxes, it felt like we were moving blocks of cement to our new place. Another was to never turn down help, what took us 5 hrs could have been done in 2 or less. And third is to avoid moving in Florida summers if at all possible. But we love our new place, we love having a washer and dryer (never want to move that washer ever again), and we love that our windows do not look out into a parking lot. Now all we have to do is to start living there. Since July Blake has been in Miami working, and I have been staying with my parents. We did have a 2 week vacation in the middle of it all, filled with a road trip and 2 family reunions. So there are lots of photos and videos to share. I'll start off with a video of our family road trip. It was so much fun, only wish Dad and Jari could have been there.

Miami Heat!

^^Heat vs Spurs: Game 6, WOW!! that was a game^^
^^Our Miami Family^^
^^Blake was jumping with me on his shoulders. We only fell once, but caught the T-shirt^^
^^love that girl, and her little basketball^^

Over the past two years of living in Miami it was only time before we became Heat fans. I have always said that basketball is one of my favorite sports to watch. Growing up across the river from Portland Oregon some of my favorite memories are going to a Blazer game with the family. It was fun seeing the whole city dress up in black and red supporting their team. Now I still wear the black and red only for a different team. We really got into the payoffs and have found a way to watch the games even without owning a TV (thanks Devin and Krysta for having us over every other night). So you can imagine our excitement last Thursday night when the Heat won the NBA championship. The city came alive just like last year, even though we did not get to watch the game (remember no TV) last year we kept our eyes on the computer screen for the score and hrs after the game you could hear craziness in the streets. So after the win this year we hit the streets prepared with our air horn for heavy traffic, non stop horn honking, and dancing construction workers kind of celebration. It is the only time driving down the streets of Miami you can look over and smile at the car next to you, instead of fighting to get around without making eye contact. You just feel connected. It just so happened that our friends had come into town that night so they got to join in on the celebration as well. It was a lot of fun.

Here is a little video of the drive home, Blake and Nick got to dance a little.

Road Trip: A Film

We have not even started going through the pictures from our road trip yet, but here's a little film I made of moments we captured.

Road Trip 2013 from A.Russ on Vimeo.

The main cities we visited were Washington D.C., Philadelphia , Jersey City, New York, Boston, Palmyra, Niagara Falls, and Detroit.
These links will take you to our day by day story telling of our road trip.

I'm super sad that we did not take pictures or video while we were with family. One of the best parts of traveling up north was getting to see and play with our family that live far away.

A Magical Day

Another little adventure we had before Jari left was going to Disney World. Blake has not been to Disney for years and Jari loves the place, so the three of us spent the day at the happiest place on earth. Here is a little video of the day.
Now we are headed to Orlando again for the weekend. This time not for Disney but for Blake's brother's wedding. Love getting to spend time with family!
